That’s not your bed.

😛

Getting big! And elbow snuggles.

The pagoats is shedding under his chin and on his head. If you can see, the skin under his chin is always black, but his scales cover it. When puffing out, he displays this flexible skin so that the black is more visible.
We measured the boy today. From nose to tail, he is 16 inches or 40 centimeters. At the time of this post, he is about 9 months old. His approximate birthday is June 22nd. I got him at Petsmart because that is the only pet store I found that keeps their beardies on reptile carpet instead of sand. It’s not as good as tile, but definitely better than sand. Beardies explore the environment with their tongue, and it is very easy for them to eat sand and get an impaction from it. Never keep bearded dragons on sand! And never keep older (read, not baby) beardies together. They will fight.

So while I was at work, we lost power due to wind. That means heat lamps were off. That means my boy was not doing ok. But luckily, my roommate cranked up the heat when he got home and cuddled pagoda until he was ok again! If he wasn’t there, I’m not sure what would’ve happened.
Lizards like bearded dragons cannot product their own heat.
If you have your own stories like mine, or suggestions for what to do in case we lose power again, feel free to let me know!!

Is that comfortable?
